Gynecological Surgeries

This type of treatment can solve cases such as ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine pathology and also pelvic floor pathology. Gynecologic surgery can be abdominal, vaginal, and endoscopic or laparoscopic.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

It is a clinical procedure that allows the gynecologist to see the inside of the uterus through an endoscopy.  This procedure can be performed for diagnostic purposes or for the treatment of intrauterine pathologies and as a method of surgical intervention.

It is recommended in cases of: menstrual disorders, polyps, bleeding, sterility or infertility, when the ultrasound reveals abnormalities inside the uterus, or if there are cytological abnormalities of the cervix or inside the womb.

Diagnostic Surgery

Pelvic organ therapy is surgery to examine or diagnose pelvic organs, using a viewing instrument called a laparoscope. Surgery is also used to treat certain diseases of the pelvic organs.   Various surgical procedures such as laparoscopic tubal ligation and others are minimally invasive as they use a small camera to examine the female reproductive organs.

It is a disease in which the type of tissue that normally grows inside the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can appear in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowels, or bladder.  It is a benign condition that affects women during their reproductive life.

Some symptoms are: pain usually in the abdomen, back under pelvic areas, infertility, heavy periods and bleeding between periods, painful menstrual cramps.  There is no cure, but treatments help with pain and infertility. These include pain medications, hormone treatments, and surgery, depending on each patient's case. And the diagnostic laparoscope can also be used.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Or called removal of the uterus is generally performed for benign pathologies such as: fibroids, endometriosis, it is a surgical technique with more than 2,500 years of history. There are 2 types of hysterectomies, 1-total if the uterine body and cervix are removed and 2-subtotal if the cervix is left. In the case of sexually active women, the subtotal type is more suitable, since the vagina will not have a scar or shortening. But with a preventive oncological vision, removing the cervix will avoid subsequent annual check-ups with cytologies for the early detection of malignant lesions of the cervix.

At Gestar we apply this procedure in a laparoscopic way. Well, the operation of "laparoscopic hysterectomy" for the removal of the uterus allows it to be carried out without leaving visible scars on the patient. With this technique, both malignant and benign growths can be treated, its main advantage being the reduction of hospital stay and the reduction of post-operative days. The approach of this surgical technique is performed through 3 small incisions in the abdomen and in some cases, a supporting incision at the bottom of the vagina. It can also be performed open and vaginal.

Anterior and Posterior Transobturator Colpoperineorrhaphy

It is a minimally invasive alternative for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence

TVT (tension-free vaginal tape) and TOT (transobturator sub-urethral tape) procedures are used to lift a woman's drooping bladder or urethra and bring it into its normal position. A narrow band of tape is placed under the urethra.

The tape supports the urethra and bladder like a hammock. Stress urinary incontinence is quite common among women. It is caused by weakness in the muscles and tissues surrounding the bladder and urethra. The weakness prevents the urethra from closing, so urine leaks out. The support provided by TVT or TOT can often alleviate or correct this leak.

Sling Placement

There is a treatment for women who suffer from stress urinary incontinence. What does this refer to? Involuntary loss of urine when coughing, laughing, or exercising. This, which can often limit their daily life and become a hygienic or social problem, has a simple solution.

It consists of the placement of a Transobturator Sling, which reproduces the natural suspension of the urethra using a polypropylene mesh. A kind of "hammock" that will support our urethra and prevent incontinence.
